How to Prepare for Test Day

Most exams are administered on a computer.
Most exams are administered on a computer.

Test day can feel stressful—but it doesn’t have to be! With the right preparation, you can walk into the testing center feeling confident and focused. Here are some essential tips to make your experience smooth from start to finish.

Tip #1: Bring Two Forms of Identification (at least)

Even if you've been told only one form of identification is needed, bring two or three forms. It's always better to be over-prepared than risk being denied entry. Check the official list of acceptable IDs at PearsonVUE.com ID Policy before your test day. You will not be able to test without the proper form of identification

Tip #2: Arrive Early

Aim to arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled test start time. If something comes up and you’re running late, call ahead—especially if it’s a fully booked day. A quick call could help save your seat and avoid unnecessary fees.

Tip #3: Pack a Snack

If your exam runs long (some can last up to 7 hours!), bring a small snack to eat during breaks. While food and drinks aren’t allowed in the testing room, you can step out for a quick energy boost. Think granola bar, banana, or trail mix—something light and easy to eat.

Tip #4: Dress Smart and Quiet

Comfort is key, but so is keeping it simple. There will be a security check. That includes checking pockets and ankles. Distracting clothing or accessories can delay your check-in process. Avoid:

  • Clothes with lots of pockets (like cargo pants)

  • Hats, sunglasses, or bulky jewelry

  • Noisy shoes like high heels on tile

  • Smart watches or Bluetooth devices (turn them off and leave them behind)

Some clothing items are not allowed inside the testing room! Please double check your emails

Tip #5: When in Doubt, Ask!

Not sure about a rule, item, or requirement? Call ahead! At Solid Testing and Training Center, we’re happy to help you prepare so there are no surprises on test day. Our goal is to make sure you feel supported every step of the way.

Final Note: Read your confirmation email or contact your testing sponsor to confirm your test details, check ID requirements, and /or review any specific instructions for your exam. Good luck—you’ve got this!
