If you're exploring a career in insurance in Texas, you may have come across two popular license types: Texas Life Insurance and Texas LAH (Life, Accident, and Health) Insurance. While they sound similar, they each offer different career paths and opportunities. Here's what you need to know to choose the right one for you.

An insurance agent provides security and peace of mind, symbolically shielding clients from life’s uncertainties.

Texas Life Insurance License
A Texas Life Insurance license allows you to sell life insurance policies, including:
  • Whole life
  • Term life
  • Universal life
  • Final expense policies
This license is ideal if you want to focus specifically on helping clients protect their families and plan for the future through life coverage. It’s a more focused license and may be the best fit if you plan to work in estate planning, final expense insurance, or with companies that only sell life products.
Texas LAH (Life, Accident, and Health) Insurance License
The LAH license includes everything in the Life license, but also expands your authority to sell:
  • Accident insurance (e.g., accidental death & dismemberment)
  • Health insurance (individual & group plans, major medical, supplemental policies)
  • Disability income policies
This license is broader and opens the door to working with clients who need full health coverage, Medicare supplements, or disability protection—especially valuable in today’s market where healthcare is a major concern.
Which One Should You Choose?
  • If you want to specialize and start small, the Life-only license may be a faster way to get started.
  • If you want to offer a wider range of products and earn more through bundling life and health policies, go for the LAH license.
No matter which path you choose, both licenses can lead to a fulfilling and profitable career in insurance. And the good news? Solid Testing and Training Center can help you prepare and pass your licensing exam with confidence.
